I started this site to try again my hand at blogging. Experience proved, my staying power at it is rapidly approaching the viagra-prescription age , but as life goes: “New country, new chance, BIG motivation!” – so here I am.
One of the first things I did after arriving in Glasgow was signing up at the library and checking out its inventory. I already discovered more books than I ever will be able to read until the end of May 2008. But I see it as my human duty to make a good-sized dent into “the black loch” (also known as my TBR wishlist). I might not blog about every book I read, but chances are good I will stick to this project, especially because I really want to improve my English skills.
I intend to take the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency, and what better way to improve my writing than exercising it here *hehe*.
Update January 2008: Well, how does the old adage say? Something like
“The mind is willing but the flesh is weak.”
, no? In my case my flesh was very weak and I didn’t post anything between mid November 2007 and now. I decided to change my *cough* posting schedule a wee bit, because I simply don’t have the willpower to write as many reviews as I read books per month. Thusly, my New Year’s Reading Resolutions emerged, hopefully fail-proof so I can report full success at the end of this year :-)
Btw., I seriously started studying for my Cambridge
Certificate and invested a good deal of money into important looking books which hopefully will turn my
English into enchanting lyrics. GAD, the more I learn the more I get the impression English is the most difficult language, EVAHHHH. Feel free to comment on any mistakes, I am more than happy to be advised on any linguistical mistakes.
That said, I invite you to have a look around and inspect my “150+ books in 9 months reading project” …and whatever else tickles my fancy :-)
Best, Katie
